Irrigation controller will be programmed and cold tested for proper operation of the solenoid valves as per the programme. All the test documents will be submitted for the approval of the consultant.

Upon receiving the approval, pumps load test will be done to confirm the proper operation as per the pump curve. After this, the automatic portion of the irrigation system including electric control valves, quick coupling valves, sprinklers, spray heads and emitters will be activated in a fully automatic manner and run through a complete cycle. Station timings of the irrigation controller will be programmed as per the consultant’s instruction and each function will be demonstrated.

EXCAVATION FOR TREES

Prior to start excavation for the pits, the location of the pits will be marked for approval of the consultant. Once the approval for the location is obtained, the individual pits will be excavated to the sizes specified. Excavated sub-soil will be removed from the site and will not be mixed with the planting medium. After this, the pits will be filled with irrigation water to ensure that the water will drain away. In case of poor drainage, a percolation test will be carried out. If necessary, drainage holes will be angered with the approval of the consultant.

PLANTING WORKS

         PLANTS / TREES

Once the planting pits are excavated, it will be backfilled with approved planting medium in layers. Overfilling will be done to allow for compaction/subsidence. During backfilling, slow-release fertilizer will be added as per specification. Tree stakes will be driven into pits prior to planting. At the time of planting, a hole will be made into the pit large enough to take the plants root ball. The planting hole will be thoroughly watered prior to planting. After this, plants will be carefully removed from the containers. Plastic pots will be split with knives and plants removed with all the soil intact around the roots. Extreme care will be taken not to damage the roots or the foliage of the plants. The plants will be placed upright so that the collar line (line of contact between soil and stem) is at the same level as the surrounding ground. Planting medium will be placed around the plant in the pit in layers, with each layer firmed separately to eliminate all air pockets until final soil level is reached. A circular watering basin slightly larger than the planting hole will be formed. Watering will be done thoroughly during and after planting. The area surrounding the plant will be restored to finished grade and excess soils and rubbish disposed of properly.
